Ripple has announced a significant new initiative to foster Web3 innovation in Japan by offering grants of up to $200,000 per project to developers building on the XRP Ledger.
Revealed in a June 9 blog post, the company detailed its partnership with Web3 Salon, a startup accelerator backed by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and powered by Asia Web3 Alliance Japan.
The grant initiative is part of the broader Ripple Japan and Korea Fund, which aims to support blockchain development in East Asia.
The program specifically targets use cases such as decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenized real-world assets, and digital payments, three sectors poised for growth in Japan’s increasingly crypto-friendly landscape.
Ripple to Provide Financial, Technical, and Strategic Support for Selected Startups
Selected Web3 startups will not only receive financial backing but also gain access to Ripple’s global ecosystem of partners and technical experts.
The company will manage the grant process directly, with evaluation criteria centered around technical strength, scalability, and alignment with Ripple’s strategic goals.
In addition to funding, Ripple will offer mentorship, infrastructure guidance, and exposure to international networks.
Also, there would be benefits that go beyond capital and could prove crucial for early-stage projects trying to scale in Japan’s complex blockchain environment.
The multi-dimensional support structure reflects Ripple’s growing commitment to nurturing a robust developer ecosystem around the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

Web3 Salon, Ripple’s strategic partner in the initiative, will lead the effort in building a community around these startups through networking, workshops, and educational programming.
Their shared goal is to reduce entry barriers for developers and equip them with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in Japan’s regulated crypto space.
The collaboration will include four community events scheduled through March 2026, featuring startup pitch sessions, panel discussions, and seminars on regulatory compliance and cross-border growth.
These activities are designed to connect founders with investors, regulators, and mentors, reinforcing Ripple and Web3 Salon’s commitment to comprehensive ecosystem development.

This initiative comes as Ripple continues to strengthen its position in Japan, a country noted for its clear crypto regulations and growing institutional adoption of XRP.
Longtime partner SBI Holdings has already integrated RippleNet into its international remittance services via SBI Remit and supports XRP trading through SBI VC Trade.
Meanwhile, consumer platforms like Mercari now offer XRP to users, and companies such as Open House Group accept XRP for real estate transactions.
By pairing financial support with technical and community-driven assistance, Ripple’s new grant program, backed by Web3 Salon and JETRO.
They could play a pivotal role in expanding the utility of the XRP Ledger and empowering the next generation of Japanese blockchain startups.
