Ex-Gemini Exec Gillian Lynch Becomes Binance Head Of Europe & UK

In a blog post today, Binance announced the appointment of Gillian Lynch as its new Head of Europe and UK. Lynch brings more than 20 years of experience in banking, fintech, and digital assets.

She will lead Binance’s strategy, operations, and regulatory work across those markets. The move reflects Binance’s push for stronger regulation, user protection, and steady growth in regulated European regions.

Appointment Details

Under this role, Lynch will drive Binance’s regional growth plans. She will manage day-to-day operations and deepen ties with regulators and policymakers. Binance CEO Richard Teng praised her track record in fintech and compliance.

He said Lynch is ideally placed to steer the company through a key phase for the industry and help shape the next wave of digital finance.

Regulatory Engagement

As global rules evolve, Binance aims to work closely with authorities. Lynch will ensure that Binance meets high standards of transparency and compliance.

She will help guide the company’s response to frameworks such as the Markets in Crypto Assets regulation. Her efforts are meant to build trust among users and regulators and support long-term stability.

A Leader for Crypto’s Mature Era

Lynch sees crypto entering a new phase of legitimacy. She spoke of close collaboration with regulators, policymakers, and the Binance community.

She said the goal is to strengthen trust and maintain Binance’s gold standard of user focus. She believes that together with local authorities, Binance can make digital assets more inclusive and resilient.

Career Built for This Moment

Before joining Binance, Lynch was CEO of Europe at Gemini. There she grew regional operations and secured key licenses such as virtual asset service provider registration in Ireland. She also earned Electronic Money Institution approval. That work gave her a clear view of the compliance hurdles in Europe’s crypto markets.

Earlier, Lynch held senior roles at Bank of Ireland in retail strategy and in UK IT and operations. She then moved into fintech as Chief Strategy Officer and COO at Leveris.

That platform helps banks modernize their core systems. Her mix of legacy finance know-how and fintech agility makes her well-suited to scale Binance under strict regulations.

Singapore Workforce and Regulations

While Lynch focuses on Europe and the UK, Binance will keep a large remote team in Singapore. The Monetary Authority of Singapore recently tightened rules for local crypto firms serving overseas markets.

Those firms must obtain a license by June 30 or wind down operations. Binance says it will comply and continue to support its Singapore staff.

With Gillian Lynch at the helm in Europe and the UK, Binance aims to strengthen its regulatory partnerships and protect users. Her blend of banking, fintech, and crypto leadership will guide the company through evolving rules.
