Charlie Kirk, a well-known conservative activist, close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump, and a vocal supporter of bitcoin, was killed on Wednesday at Utah Valley University.
He was 31 years old. Trump confirmed the news of the passing in a heartfelt post on Truth Social, where he called Kirk a “loyal supporter and trustworthy friend”.
Kirk, known for his brashness in political debates and youth engagement, had pathologized himself as a powerful voice for conservative values, faith, and economic creativity.
Charlie’s death has led to widespread panic amid crypto circles, thereby leading to tons of tributes from crypto leaders.
Political Leaders Pay Tribute, Trump Orders Flags at Half-Staff
President Donald Trump recognized Kirk’s impact on America’s youth and thanked him for his help during previous campaigns. “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk,” Trump said, “was vastly loved and admired by millions.”
In Kirk’s honor, Trump ordered that all American flags be flown at half-staff until Sunday night.
Notably, Eric Trump issued a statement, calling Kirk “brave, tough as hell, and a dear friend,” while declaring that all Trump properties would be flown at half-staff.
These gestures reflected the close ties between Kirk and the Trump family, as well as his role in conservative politics.

Global Leaders and Public Figures React to Kirk’s Assassination
Kirk’s tributes made it well beyond the boundaries of the United States. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referred to his as “a lion-hearted friend of Israel,” and lamented that Kirk’s expected visit to Israel will never happen.
Also, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the political violence while emphasising that debate must be free and without fear of being murdered.
U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who comes from a family that has experienced political violence through assassination, called Kirk “the most eloquent truth teller of an era,” and prayed for his family.
These remarks illustrate just how far Kirk resonated, from American politics to the geopolitics of the world.

Crypto Community Mourns Loss of a Bitcoin Reserve Advocate
Kirk’s death has deep repercussions in the crypto space, as he became an astute proponent of Bitcoin as a strategic U.S. asset.
A familiar figure in the crypto space, Ross Ulbricht, reacted emotionally to Kirk’s death and posted on X that what happened was “truly awful.”
Ulbricht said Kirk was a person who supported him during hard times and he wished prayers for his family.
Crypto entrepreneur Roger Ver also commented on the situation, condemned political violence, and referred to Kirk’s murder as a “tragic reminder about the harmful power of government.”
Kirk’s advocacy of Bitcoin put him in the company of people like Michael Saylor in arguing that cryptocurrency offered protection from the precarity of the financial world.
He often articulated how Bitcoin’s scarcity and ongoing adoption indicated that it was a “financial safe haven”. He also encouraged the government to build up a Bitcoin reserve.
On the Iced Coffee Hour podcast, Kirk stated that Bitcoin’s potential to increase “million to zero” was greater, and expressed the idea that Bitcoin adoption was similar to the unstoppable spread of the English language.
Charlie cited Michael Saylor’s potential for tenfold growth, while also advising how U.S. tariff revenues could be used to buy up Bitcoin and create the opportunity for the country to pay down its debt.
His demise takes away one of the leading conservative advocates for Bitcoin to be woven into U.S. policy.
Investigation Underway Into Utah Shooting
Authorities in Utah say that the investigation into Kirk’s murder is active.
Initially, two people were arrested in connection with the shooting, but were released once officials determined they were not connected to the shooting.
Department of Public Safety officials say the case is open and active, and investigators are trying to determine what led to the shooting.
Meanwhile, Kirk’s family, political comrades, and crypto supporters are still grieving the death of a man who combined political action with innovative financial principles, and has left a legacy that will likely continue to influence argument in both arenas.
