An informal poll conducted among Ethereum supporters has revealed overwhelming support for Danny Ryan, a former Ethereum researcher, to become the next leader of the Ethereum Foundation (EF).

The poll, which took place on votedannyryan.com, provides Ethereum users with a simple yes/no voting system using their ETH wallets. The process is gas-free, making it easy for the community to participate, reports stated.

What are the Results?

Out of the 296 wallets, which hold more than 50,000 ETH valued at $160 million, 99% have cast their votes in favour of Ryan. While this poll doesn’t produce an official result, it strongly indicates that the community is rallying behind Ryan for the EF leadership role.

A Show of Solidarity from Ethereum’s Core Developers

This movement comes shortly after prominent Ethereum core developer Eric Conner announced his departure from the community after 11 years. Conner had been vocal in his support for Danny Ryan, urging the EF to hire him as Executive Director.

In a Jan. 15 post, Conner said, “If the EF doesn’t hire Danny Ryan as ED of the EF, it’s revolt time.” With the EF not responding to his call, Conner decided to leave the ecosystem. His departure highlights the increasing tension within the Ethereum community regarding the future direction of the Ethereum Foundation.

Fabrice Cheng, an Ethereum “OG builder,” created the voting site as a way for the community to express their views on Ryan’s potential leadership.

With Ryan being the only candidate in the poll, the results are a clear sign of the community’s preferences. However, the vote itself does not carry any official weight.

Lubin believes that Ryan, with his impeccable leadership qualities, can provide the drive that the Ethereum Foundation needs to continue its growth and success in the technical side of Ethereum.

The overwhelming support for Danny Ryan among Ethereum supporters signals a clear desire for change and a new leadership direction within the Ethereum Foundation.

With key figures like Eric Conner and Joseph Lubin backing Ryan, it’s evident that the Ethereum community sees him as the right person to lead the Foundation into the future.
