Popular gaming company Ubisoft is launching a 10,000-piece NFT collection on the Arbitrum, in the coming weeks. These “Niji Warrior ID” NFTs will be available on the Magic Eden marketplace.

They will give holders early access to Ubisoft’s upcoming multiplayer shooter, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., which is set in a dystopian world inspired by the Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix and Ubisoft’s popular Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon game.

According to sources, Tencent Holdings Ltd. and Ubisoft’s founding Guillemot family have been exploring various strategies, including a potential buyout, to address the financial situation.

After news of these potential plans surfaced, Ubisoft’s shares saw a recovery, climbing more than 31% to just over €14 (approximately $15.35) by midday on Friday.

What Does Ubisoft NFT Collection Have to Offer?

In addition to giving gamers access to the game before it launches, the NFT collection has several other advantages. The NFTs will be used to monitor player engagement with the game and progress.

The NFTs will change as players’ scores rise, opening up additional benefits and increasing their influence over governance in the game’s environment.

In addition, holders will be able to unlock user-generated material and win prizes; however, specifics on the operation of this feature are still pending.

Ubisoft is aiming to integrate Web3 elements into the game, offering players the power to shape the game’s future. “Through the integration of Web3, we’re empowering our community to not only play but shape the future of the game,” Didier Genevois, Web3 Executive Producer at Ubisoft, said in a release. “It’s about creating a collaborative ecosystem where players’ decisions and creations directly impact the game’s evolution, making the experience truly their own.”

Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. is expected to feature well-known Ubisoft characters from games like Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman, and Assassin’s Creed, making it accessible to gamers seeking fresh gameplay experiences as well as recollections of classic games. The game’s competitive multiplayer options and top-down shooter style will increase its replay value and community-driven aspect.

Ubisoft Faces Market Turmoil Before Shares Rising Up

Ubisoft’s ambitious venture into Web3 gaming comes at a turbulent time for the company. Recently, the gaming giant has faced significant financial challenges. Ubisoft’s stock hit a decade-low of €9.76 ($10.70) on September 26, the lowest since November 2013, according to a Forbes article

The sharp decline in the company’s market value has sparked discussions around potential moves to stabilize the business. The rise in stock value has been viewed as a response to the possibility of external intervention to bolster the company’s fortunes.

With the Niji Warrior ID NFTs, Ubisoft is taking a risk by entering the Web3 gaming space, which will be important as it navigates this difficult financial moment.

The company hopes to capitalise on the growing interest in decentralised gaming by delivering gamers unique blockchain-enabled experiences, while simultaneously giving its devoted following new and creative ways to interact with its beloved brands.
