TRON founder Justin Sun said he will donate to support residents affected by a deadly fire that ripped through the Wang Fuk Court housing estate in Tai Po, expressing sympathy for those who lost homes and loved ones.
Donation from Justin
“I am deeply saddened to learn about the recent fire in Tai Po, Hong Kong. My thoughts are with all the residents and families affected by this tragic incident,” Sun wrote on X (Twitter), adding that he will make a donation “to assist those who have suffered losses and to help with rebuilding and recovery.”
The blaze tore through multiple high-rise blocks at the Wang Fuk Court complex and has been described by international media as one of the city’s worst residential fires in decades.
Authorities and news organisations reported that dozens of people have died and many more were injured or remain missing as rescue teams continue search-and-rescue operations.
Local emergency services and government agencies have mobilised shelters and relief efforts for displaced residents, while investigators have launched probes into the cause of the blaze; several arrests have been reported in connection with alleged safety failings tied to renovation work and external scaffolding.
Details on the size of Sun’s donation and the mechanisms for distributing funds were not provided in his post. Local authorities and relief groups are coordinating support for survivors, and further updates are expected as investigations and recovery operations continue.
Justin Sun in the crypto
Sun, a high-profile figure in the crypto industry who founded the TRON blockchain, urged others to “stand together with the people of Tai Po” and said he hoped his contribution would provide “timely assistance and comfort to the community.”
He warned the community in August that the network transaction costs have been increasing as TRX rises during the current bull run and that the Tron Super Representatives would change rates as necessary to maintain the network’s competitiveness.
Users questioned why moving money was more expensive than normal, which led to the statement. Sun stated that in order to safeguard users and the network’s reputation, the team will examine charge settings and take appropriate action.
