Tether, the leading stablecoin issuer, has launched its USD₮ token on the Kaia blockchain in collaboration with LINE NEXT, the Web3 division of Japan’s LINE messaging platform.

This move integrates Tether’s flagship dollar‑pegged coin into LINE’s Mini DApp ecosystem and wallet, making stablecoin transactions available to nearly 200 million active users.

Partnership Details and Goals

Through this partnership, USD₮ will become a native asset on Kaia, a high‑performance public layer‑one blockchain designed to power Mini DApps within LINE Messenger. LINE NEXT and Kaia will work together to bring USD₮ functionality into everyday conversations.

Users can manage the stablecoin in LINE’s self‑custodial wallet and use it for in‑app payments, remittances, and decentralised finance activities without leaving the chat interface.

Expanding Access to Stable Transactions

Tether’s deployment of USD₮ on Kaia opens the door for LINE’s large user base to conduct fast, low‑cost transactions. Mini DApps built on Kaia will let users complete simple tasks and earn USD₮ rewards.

Friends can send and receive stablecoins directly in their chat, turning LINE into a gateway for digital money. This integration aims to simplify fiat‑to‑crypto on‑ramping for mainstream consumers across Asia.

Voices from Tether and LINE NEXT

Paolo Ardoino, Tether’s chief technology officer, said that bringing USD₮ to Kaia is a step toward making stablecoins part of daily life. He emphasised that LINE’s broad reach will give millions of users easy access to dollar‑backed tokens.

Dr. Sam Seo, chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, highlighted Kaia’s fast transaction times and immediate finality, promising a reliable experience across DeFi and centralised exchanges.

Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, added that integrating USD₮ will create a dollar‑based gateway in Asia and bring Web3 services closer to users.

How Users Benefit?

By embedding USD₮ into a familiar messaging app, the collaboration removes common barriers to crypto use. There is no need for separate wallets or complex onboarding.

Users can tap into stablecoins for peer‑to‑peer transfers, cross‑border payments, and earn interest in DeFi protocols. The self‑custodial wallet gives users full control of their assets, and proof‑of‑reserves assurances aim to build trust in the system’s liquidity.

Building the Web3 Ecosystem

Kaia and LINE NEXT see this integration as a foundation for broader Web3 offerings. In addition to payments, Mini DApps may roll out new services like tokenised loyalty programs, NFT marketplaces, and instant settlement features.

The goal is to create a seamless bridge between the real‑world economy and blockchain applications, all within the familiar LINE environment.

Recent Moves by Tether

This launch follows Tether’s announcement of Tether. ai, a platform set to combine USDT and Bitcoin payments for commerce and developers. It also builds on Tether’s continued push into Asia, where stablecoins can offer faster remittances and lower fees compared to traditional financial rails.

By bringing USD₮ to Kaia’s Mini DApp network, Tether and LINE NEXT have paved the way for everyday stablecoin use in Asia’s largest messaging app.
