Gracy Chen, Bitget’s recently appointed CEO, has sent her first public statement, detailing her vision for the company’s future and sharing her own experience in the cryptocurrency sector.

Chen is also the first woman chosen for SheVerified: The Most Influential Women of Web3, an award by a Web3 news publishing company. Her qualifications offer a unique combination of personal and professional experience to her new position.

In her letter, Chen emphasised her excitement about leading Bitget and shared details about herself. Raised by a single mother, she was taught to value pleasure over ambition. Chen, on the other hand, was drawn to leadership roles from an early age, motivated by a desire to create value, accept responsibility, and drive major change.

The Love for Mathematics Drove her to Cryptocurrencies

Chen’s scholastic trajectory sent her to Singapore, where she studied applied mathematics. Her career took an unexpected turn when she became a TV host for a financial and technology program.

In 2015, friends and coworkers exposed her to the world of cryptocurrency, which attracted her curiosity owing to its mathematical simplicity and democratic ideas.

Fascinated by blockchain technology’s potential, Chen invested in key cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP, as well as crypto companies such as BitKeep, which is now Bitget Wallet. 

Her passion for innovation drove her to abandon her TV profession and co-found two financial and virtual reality firms. Despite setbacks, Chen’s business zeal remained unwavering, culminating in her pursuit of an MBA from MIT.

Chen chose to join Bitget as Managing Director in 2022 after seeing the group’s aptitude, drive, and strong moral principles. Under her direction, Bitget saw incredible growth, reaching over 25 million users and ranking among the top 10 spot trading platforms and top 5 futures trading platforms. Chen attributes Bitget’s success to the combined efforts of its 1,500 skilled workers and management.

Chen’s Focus to be User-Friendly for Bitget Users

In her new role as CEO, Chen emphasised Bitget’s dedication to being user-centric and promoting diversity. She highlighted the company’s proactive method during the Slerf incident, wherein Bitget supported the crypto community by donating trading fees to users affected by the incident.

Chen additionally underscored the significance of gender diversity and equal opportunity in the blockchain industry, bringing up her personal experience as a mother.

Chen outlined Bitget’s strategic plans including compliance, emerging markets, and Web3 development. She referred to huge advancements in those regions, in particular with Bitget Wallet, which recently concluded a successful BWB points airdrop and is poised to become Bitget’s on-chain layer.

Chen’s Commitment Towards Promoting Crypto Adoption 

Chen sees Bitget as being a tool for the acceptance of cryptocurrencies by the general public. She outlined ambitions to incorporate cryptocurrency into daily life, provide a bridge between traditional banking and cryptocurrency, and bolster the Bitget ecosystem through investments.

One such invention meant to increase accessibility to cryptocurrency is the introduction of the Bitget Card, a credit card backed by cryptocurrency.

Chen compared the success of global brand ambassador Lionel Messi to the crypto industry’s predicted long-term growth. She emphasised that rather than focussing on short-term gains, Bitget’s strategy has always been about making basic improvements for long-term success.
