FIFA Collect has revealed that it will move its digital collectibles platform from Algorand to the newly developed FIFA Blockchain. This change is set to begin no earlier than May 20, 2025.

Users do not need to take any action right now. FIFA will share detailed instructions once the exact migration date is confirmed.

What Users Need to Know

Existing digital collectibles will appear automatically in each user’s collection on the FIFA Blockchain. Those who have already exported their assets must reimport them before May 20 to ensure they migrate smoothly.

After that date, holders can still move their items but must go through customer support, which may require extra verification. Throughout the process, there will be no migration fees.

Access and Wallet Support

Once the migration is complete, the core experience of FIFA Collect will stay familiar. Fans will continue to log in to their accounts to view and manage their collectibles.

However, the list of supported wallets will change. Algorand-based wallets, like Pera and Defly, will no longer work. Instead, users can connect with MetaMask or any other EVM-compatible wallet via WalletConnect.

Platform Availability

The migration will require a brief pause in service. FIFA has said the platform will be offline for about 12 hours during the upgrade.

Everyone will receive advance notice of the exact downtime window so they can plan accordingly.

Automatic Listing of Collectibles

Collectibles that are currently listed for sale will carry over to the new platform. If users wish to delist any item before the migration, they must do so on the existing Algorand-based site. After the move, all remaining listings will reappear automatically under the same terms.

Background of FIFA Collect

FIFA first launched its official NFT collection ahead of the 2023 Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia, in partnership with blockchain firm Modex.

In late 2024, FIFA teamed up with Mythical Games to create FIFA Rivals, a free-to-play mobile game.

The full version of FIFA Rivals is slated for release in summer 2025, with a pre-release expected in May 2025. This move to a new blockchain aims to set a solid foundation for future features and better performance.

The switch to an EVM-compatible blockchain marks a major step for FIFA Collect. By improving scalability and opening up compatibility with more wallets, FIFA aims to offer a smoother experience for fans and collectors.

As the migration date approaches, users can look forward to new features and a more robust platform without worrying about extra costs or complex procedures.
