Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has undertaken yet another crypto sell for Ethereum. According to data, Vitalik sold 340b DOG (LEDOG) through for 5.204 ETH, or almost $18,900. The sell-off comes as a form of charity.
As of right now, Vitalik Buterin still owns 8T DOG, which is over $483,000. In the past, Vitalik had donated the Memecoin that he received for charity multiple times.
Buterin’s Charity Donation Not First For Market
Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has time and again made multiple donations via exchanging memecoins or by donating a portion of his Ethereum sales.
Just previously, he made a major donation to Thailand’s Khao Kheow Zoo by promising 10 million baht (about US$292,230) to fund a number of projects.
With Buterin officially joining the Wildlife Sponsorship Program and adopting MOODENG, the donation signifies a major commitment to zoo expansion and wildlife protection.
In the same tone, Buterin had exchanged Ethereum for some of the memecoin tokens he had been given for free. Vitalik had traded a number of Memecoins for 140.6 ETH, which included 70.71 million Neiro, 11.76 billion MOODENG, 7.8 million DEGEN, 16.03 billion KABOSU, and 100,000 USDT (donated by the CATE project).
Because of Vitalik Buterin’s repeated purchases and sales of Ethereum, markets have always been unsure of what he will do next.
Buterin has previously transferred about $10 million in Ethereum into wallets linked to cryptocurrency exchanges. Since the market was still erratic at the time, the move had sparked a lot of discussion, with many people wondering why.
Buterin Says “Ethereum Sale” Only For Charity and Not Profit
With Vitalik’s multiple crypto exchanges and Ethereum sell-offs, markets had grwon suspecious of his activities. However, as UnoCrypto reported earlier, Buterin had confirmed his activities in reaction to public suspicion over his ETH sales.
“I haven’t sold and kept the proceeds since 2018,” he said. Every sale has gone toward funding different initiatives that I believe are worthwhile, whether they are part of the Ethereum ecosystem or a larger charitable cause (such as medicinal research and development), he added.
Buterin has insisted for a long time that he does not use ETH for personal benefit. On Warpcast, he restated this position. “If you come across an article that says, ‘Vitalik sends XXX ETH to [exchange],’ it’s not me selling,” he stated.
Most of the time, I donate to a nonprofit, charity, or other project, and the receiver sells because they need to pay for it. Since 2018, I haven’t “sold” ETH for profit, he stated.
