Binance co-founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, has issued a critical security warning to the crypto community. 

In a series of tweets, CZ advised users of Intel-based MacBook laptops and iPhones to urgently update their devices. 

He emphasized the importance of installing the latest security patches, noting that there are critical vulnerabilities that need to be addressed. 

CZ’s call to action underscores the importance of maintaining robust cybersecurity practices, particularly for those operating in the cryptocurrency space.

Hack of CZ’s “Giggle Academy” Project

In a previous incident, CZ revealed that his new venture, the “Giggle Academy,” had fallen victim to a hack. 

The Binance co-founder shared on Twitter that the project’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account had been compromised by hackers. 

While he provided no further details on the nature of the attack, CZ urged all internet users to exercise caution when consuming content from any source, emphasizing the need for “common sense” in the digital landscape.

WazirX Hack and Arrest of Alleged Hacker

In other crypto security news, Indian authorities have apprehended SK Masud Alam, a West Bengal native, in connection with the $230 million hack of the WazirX cryptocurrency exchange earlier this year. 

Investigators allege that Alam had created a fake account under the name Souvik Mondal and sold it through Telegram, which was then used by the hackers to orchestrate the attack that locked many WazirX customers out of their funds.

Bitfinex Hack Sentencing Recommendations

In a separate case, US prosecutors have requested that the alleged mastermind behind the $6 billion Bitfinex exchange breach should serve five years in prison. 

The government argued that Ilya Lichtenstein, who has pleaded guilty to money laundering conspiracy, should receive a longer sentence than his co-conspirator and rapper spouse, Heather Morgan, who is recommended to serve 18 months.
