Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff has stirred debate by seeking public donations to expand his BTC reserve. His recent post on X(Twitter) received a mix of sarcastic and critical responses from online users.

Schiff expressed worry that the total value of his Bitcoin holdings remains under $5,000. He explained that his reserve was built solely on donations following an approach inspired by the U.S. government.

This move adds another chapter to his longstanding skepticism regarding Bitcoin’s status as a stable store of value.

Building a Bitcoin Reser

Peter Schiff revealed that his Bitcoin reserve has grown entirely through public contributions, without using his own funds. He mentioned that his method mirrors the U.S. government’s strategy of acquiring assets without incurring extra costs.

Schiff noted that the reserve is symbolic of his broader financial philosophy and personal beliefs about digital assets. He stressed that every donation has been made voluntarily by supporters who share his view on Bitcoin.

This donation-based method has sparked both interest and humorous reactions across social media platforms.

Skepticism About Bitcoin’s Value

Schiff has long challenged the notion that Bitcoin serves as a digital equivalent to physical gold. He argued that Bitcoin has not yet proven its ability to provide the stability that traditional gold investments offer.

In his view, Bitcoin’s extreme price swings negate any claims of reliability as a store of value. He questioned whether Bitcoin can maintain its “digital gold” status in the long run due to its inherent volatility.

Schiff insisted that gold has preserved its value over centuries, while Bitcoin remains unpredictable and risky.

Invitation to Support and Match Donations

Following his statement today, Schiff shared his Bitcoin wallet address in his post, inviting supporters to donate. He offered to match every Bitcoin donation received on that day, effectively doubling the contributions from his supporters.

This bold offer is intended to motivate the public to participate in growing his reserve. Schiff hopes that by matching donations, he can significantly increase the total value of his BTC holdings.

His approach has sparked a lively debate among crypto enthusiasts and critics alike, as many question its practicality and underlying message.

Peter Schiff’s public call for donations to expand his Bitcoin reserve has ignited a spirited discussion about Bitcoin’s role as a digital asset. His actions highlight the sharp divide between traditional financial views and the growing popularity of cryptocurrencies.
