Aptos has been named the official digital wallet provider for the 2025 Osaka World Expo in Japan. In its first week, the Aptos Horizon team reported over 558,000 transactions and 133,000 new accounts.

The Expo, running from April through October 2025, is set to welcome more than 28 million visitors, offering a wide array of on-chain features without requiring visitors to know Web3.

Strong Start in Opening Week

During the Expo’s opening week, the Aptos Horizon team toured the venue and marvelled at its scale. They shared on X(Twitter) that Aptos had already logged hundreds of thousands of transactions in just seven days.

The team emphasised how simple the wallet is for first-time users. Visitors can collect NFT passport stamps, called soulbound stamps, which capture memories in a secure, non-transferable format.

User-Friendly Wallet Features

The EXPO2025 Digital Wallet offers several features under the MYAKU brand. ‘MYAKU-PE!’ serves as a flexible payment service within and outside the Expo site. ‘MYAKU-PO!’ rewards users for engaging with various exhibits and activities.

‘MYAKU-N!’ allows guests to create and store exclusive Expo NFTs. Finally, the ‘MYAKU-MYAKU’ Rewards program grants benefits and status levels based on wallet usage. Each feature aims to make the Expo experience seamless for millions of visitors.

Onboarding the Masses

Feedback from the Aptos team highlighted the surprise of many Expo-goers who saw country pavilions and large, themed buildings, rather than small booths. Participants were impressed by the blend of culture, art, and cutting-edge tech.

As one team member noted, “World Expo was worth visiting. The exhibitions by countries, artists, and futurists were impressive, and each one had a soulbound stamp NFT to claim.”

Blockchain Backbone

Aptos chose its Namesake blockchain for its scalability and efficiency, powered by the Move programming language. This robust infrastructure supports high throughput and low latency, vital for handling the flood of transactions expected over the next six months.

Partners like Hashport, AngelHack, and the Aptos Horizon accelerator program have also played key roles in bringing the digital wallet to life.

Health Tech Collaboration

Beyond the Expo, the Aptos Foundation has invested in Universal Health Token (UHT). This partnership aims to merge blockchain and artificial intelligence to reinvent healthcare data management.

By offering secure, open, and efficient solutions, the collaboration hopes to accelerate decentralised health systems worldwide.

Aptos’s early success at the Osaka World Expo shows how blockchain can enhance large-scale events. With user-friendly design, innovative NFT features, and strong back-end technology, the EXPO2025 Digital Wallet is poised to set a new standard for visitor engagement.
