Sony’s blockchain team has joined forces with Japanese social media giant LINE. The partnership was announced on Wednesday.
The collaboration will bring LINE into the Web3 space. Sony aims to adapt popular mini-apps for its Soneium network.
The deal promises better user experiences and more rewards for players. This move comes as both companies seek to expand their digital offerings.
Integrating Mini-Apps on Soneium
Sony and LINE plan to launch four mini-app games soon. These games include Sleepagotchi LITE, Farm Frens, Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob. Each mini-app will allow users to earn in-game rewards and make purchases easily.
LINE mini app builders will receive support from Soneium. They will benefit from community building, strategic marketing, and collaboration on intellectual property.
Jun Watanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, said the move makes Soneium more accessible. He believes the partnership will boost engagement and web3 adoption.
Details of the Mini-Apps
The first mini-app is Sleepagotchi LITE. This app is a lighter version of the upcoming Sleepagotchi Sleep Rewards app.
It is designed for iOS and Android users. Players can earn points in the mini-app and later transfer them to the main app. Sleepagotchi LITE reached one million users on Telegram in its first month.
Farm Frens is the second in line. In 2024, this game made its debut on Telegram. Many LINE users may become familiar with cryptocurrency with its impending Soneium relaunch. Amihan Entertainment created Farm Frens.Â

It has raised over $10 million in funding. The game aims to serve as a gateway to web3 for users who are new to crypto.
Next is Puffy Match, a mini-game created by Moonveil. Moonveil uses zk-Layer 2 technology and AI tools for its gaming ecosystem. Puffy Match offers simple rules and quick play sessions. This mini-app focuses on community engagement and rewards players in a fun way.
The last mini-app is Pocket Mob. This social strategy RPG was developed by Sonzai Labs, the team behind TeleMafia. In Pocket Mob, players join mafia-style battles. They can form Mob Families and earn Respect points. These points may lead to NFT rewards, adding value to the game.
A Step Toward Web3 Adoption
Soneium is managed by Sony Block Solutions Labs in partnership with Singapore-based Startale Labs. The goal is to let users experience web3 without any hassle. The integration is expected to open up new ways for users to engage with digital content.
LINE reports that it has around 200 million active users. Bringing four popular mini-apps to Soneium will help bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3.
Jun Watanabe said that LINE has built a strong online presence. He noted that adding these mini-apps to Soneium is the next big step for the blockchain.
This move will help drive engagement and boost web3 adoption. The collaboration aims to improve community interaction and offer better rewards.
This partnership marks an important milestone for both Sony and LINE. It offers a clear path for mainstream users to explore web3 benefits. Both companies are set to launch these apps in the coming months. They hope the integration will make digital interactions smoother and more rewarding.
